The 6Ps™
- Passion
- Pleasure
- Purpose
- People
- Planet
- Profits
Six functions in one circuit. Not a menu, not six departments, and not a values poster.
Break one and the whole system bleeds.
Why six and not three
The Triple Bottom Line wasn’t wrong. It was incomplete, and then it got hijacked.
People, Planet, Profit became ESG decks, SDG scorecards and DEI tokens.
- Environmental exaggeration.
- Virtue voyeurism.
- Ideological indoctrination.
- Everyone watching, nobody building.
- Appearances instead of alignment.
The Triple Bottom Line
People. Planet. Profit.
The three that were missing
Passion. Pleasure. Purpose.
The three that were missing are the three that make it run.
Passion, Pleasure and Purpose are internal. They belong to the operator rather than the organisation, which is why a model built on the external three alone produces companies that report well and can’t move.
You will never outgrow your self-image.
Your business won’t either.
What each one does
Passionignites
Not what you like. What you’d bleed for. You don’t scale resentment, you scale resonance. And if you’re scaling someone else’s dream, you already feel it in your nervous system.
Pleasuresustains
Without it, systems rot. With it, they regenerate. Pleasure isn’t a reward. It’s an operating standard.
Purposesharpens
It isn’t found on a retreat. It’s declared, defended, and enforced like a boundary. No purpose, no permission.
Peopleamplify
Your ceiling is set by who you allow in the room. Every surge is a coalition. Every collapse is a compromise. Put the right people in position so they can shine.
Planetcontextualises
This isn’t eco-theatre, it’s consequence awareness. Every brand leaves residue. Leave it better than you found it.
Profitsvalidate and expand
They’re not the goal, they’re the scoreboard. Surplus is sovereignty. No profit, no permission to scale. Fake profit is just debt in makeup.
The circuit
- Passionsparks
- Pleasuresustains
- Purposedirects
- Peoplescale
- Planetsteadies
- Profitscompound
That’s the loop, and it feeds itself.
It’s also why the order matters: it’s causal rather than alphabetical, and reordering it into something that reads better breaks the argument.
What breaking one looks like
| Missing | What you get |
|---|---|
| Passion without profit | Burnout |
| Profit without purpose | Extraction |
| Purpose without pleasure | Martyrdom |
| Pleasure without planet | Destruction |
| Planet without people | Extinction |
| People without passion | Rehearsing death |
You don’t need a slide deck.
You need rhythm, discipline and alignment.
Questions people actually ask
- What are the 6Ps?
- Passion, Pleasure, Purpose, People, Planet, Profits. A six-part operating model that replaces the Triple Bottom Line, set out in Chapter Four of Mis(très)s Entrepreneur Manifesto by Paul Lange.
- How is it different from ESG?
- ESG measures a company from outside and reports on it. The 6Ps starts inside the operator, on the argument that a business is a mirror and what it reflects is the character of whoever runs it. Three of the six, Passion, Pleasure and Purpose, have no ESG equivalent at all.
- Is the order fixed?
- Yes, when the six are listed as the framework. It’s causal, not alphabetical.
- Where do I read the full argument?
- Chapter Four. The book is forty pages and the chapter is about six of them.
The 6Ps aren’t values.
They’re energetic functions, and a business that’s missing one can usually name which.
Command it, or be commanded.
